First draft of Policy Paper on employment of communities was presented
On 7.02.2013 a meeting was held with observers of future work group, which will deal with development of mechanisms and procedures with aim of improving legal frames which regulate employment of communities.
The subject of the meeting was the first draft of policy paper on employment of non-majority communities, which was developed by the Office for community affairs, as well as the role of observers in the work group.
The meeting was opened by the director of Office for community affairs, Srđan Popović, who thanked the participants (His Excellency the Ambassador of Norway, representatives of the embassies: SAD, Germany, Great Britain and Switzerland, UNDP, OSCE, Office of special representative EU in Kosovo, ECMI) on readiness to support this initiative and give their contribution.
Office of Prime Minister/ Office for community affairs with this project want to give more attention to employment policy of non-majority communities, as well as to create mechanisms with the members of work group that will enhance existing legal frame in this field. We want to point out to all institutions and enterprises on importance of developing the strategy and programme that will improve employment policy of non-majority communities, as well as on importance of synchronizing their employment policies with Kosovo Constitution and laws, said Popović.
Sonja Skarep, advisor in the Office for community affairs, presented the first draft of policy paper on employment of non-majority communities to participants, after which discussion followed.
Parallel with the process of forming the work group, the research about representation of non-majority communities in civil service, public enterprises and agencies will be done. The research will also show the comparative analysis in relation to the research done by the Office in 2010.
