The UNDP mainly presented its field of work and the results achieved in the period of 2011 to 2013.
The conference was then followed up by presentations from the partner institutions who discussed their cooperation with the UNDP and the recommendations for future cooperation. Some of those present were Mr. Slobodan Petrović, Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister for Local Government, Mr. Mahir Yagcilar, the Minister of Public Administration, Mr. Srđan Popović, senior advisor to the Prime Minister and the director of the Office for Community Affairs, as well as representatives of the ministry of environment, the mayor of the municipality of Fushë Kosovë/Kosovo Polje, regional development agencies for the south and the Energy Agency.
Mr. Popović thanked the UNDP for their previous support, especially regarding the reform process of the Language Commission, and remarked that increasing the investment in economic development, education and different professional workshops is vital when it comes to lifting the potential of a society.
It is necessary to direct more attention toward the capacity for using the available European funds as well as designing satisfying programs that will help in creating this capacity, especially for the non-majority communities.
This is a recommendation to the UNDP to other relevant institutions and organizations to involve themselves more regarding this question, how to work together on programs which will contribute to development and the creation of conditions necessary for economic and social progress and for achieving high-quality living conditions for every citizen, Mr. Popović stated.
