MINISTRY OF COMMUNITIES AND RETURNS (MCR) AND OFFICE OF COMMUNITY AFFAIRS/ OFFICE OF THE PRIME MINISTER (OCA/OPM) JOINT DONOR CONFERENCE
Director Popovic addressed the importance of the document, which clearly defines projects, the implementation of which will directly support both the stabilization of communities in Kosovo and prospective returns to the region, while ensuring duplication of effort will be eradicated.
Minister Jevtic emphasized the improved cooperation resulting from this agreement, while noting that it only enhanced the on-going excellent cooperation between MCR and OCA/OPM on implementing infrastructure projects for communities. The Minister discussed the priorities of future projects outlined in the donor document, and the need for additional funding in order to ensure all prospective projects could be implemented, while requesting donor support in this regard.
In their following remarks, Ambassadors Cliff and Braathu offered strong support to the initiative, while agreeing with Mr Andrew Russell, UN Development Coordinator, who suggested the need for a follow-up conference at some time in the future to evaluate progress, and the necessity to establish a system of project prioritization, with specific funding requirements for each prospective project.
