Study visit in Brussels


During the period from 31 January until 4 February, Office of Prime Minister/Office for Community Affairs organized a study trip for members of Working Group for the Commission on Language Reform.

The idea was that during this visit the working group members learn more about language policies and best practices of their implementation by the EU institutions and Belgian authorities.

On that occasion, Mr.Srdjan Popovic, Senior Advisor of Prime Minister and Director of Office for Communities presented the initiative and the aim of the Language Commission reform.

During study trip, members of working group had the opportunity to meet representatives of European Commission, Federal Belgium Parliament, European Council, Goethe Institute and with a group of professors at the University of Brussels who deal with the issue of languages in a multicultural and multilingual environment as well as the impact of language policy in Belgium.

Meetings with representative of above mentioned institutions were very productive in terms of concrete proposals that will be used in order to improve language policy issue as well as to the Office of the Language Commissioner.

In coming period will be organized the workshop in Ohrid from 13 until 16 February in order to discuss and finalize Administrative Instruction, together with annexes  on rules and procedures on selection appointment of the Commissioner, Rules of Procedure of the Office of the Language Commissioner and Job descriptions.
