Third meeting of the Working Group on the Language Commission reform was held and were approved recommendations for the Government
On Monday, 27 February, third meeting of the Working Group on the Language Commission Reform was held and on that occasion working group members approved recommendations for the Government.
The meeting was opened by the chairman of the working group, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Administration and Local Governance, Mr. Slobodan Petrovic who contently informed that the Working Group finalized the task on preparation of necessary documents for a successful reform of the Language Commission and expressed gratitude for their contribution during last few months.
Mr. Srdjan Popovic, in his opening speech, used this occasion to share impressions with observers of the Working Group from the study visit to Brussels which, according to his opinion was very successful and the contacts with representatives of institutions in Brussels will be very important for the future Office of the Language Commissioner.
Working Group approved recommendations to the Government that are related to adoption of:
Draft Regulation of Government for Office of Language Commissioner; Draft Government Regulation No. /2012 on the Office of the Language Commissioner, draft Procedure for the selection and appointment of the Language Commissioner (Annex 1 of the draft Regulation), draft Rules of Procedure of the Office of the Language Commissioner (Annex 2 of the draft Regulation, draft organogram and 2012 budget of the Office of the Language Commissioner and draft model job descriptions for the Language Commissioner and the staff of the Office, prepared based on the draft Regulation, for further processing and adoption by the Office of the Prime Minister and Minister of Public Administration, in accordance with relevant procedures.
Also, it was recommended to the Government to extends the mandate of the Working Group, to ensure that the Working group can support steps for the establishment of the Office of the Language Commissioner and of its support mechanisms and can propose for review, endorsement and implementation by the Office of the Language Commissioner, the Language Policy Board and the Government a package of tangible policy measures which will support further implementation of the Law on the Use of Languages during the year following the establishment of the Office.
