Office of Community Affairs organized a conference on the occasion of International Roma Day
As in all other countries of the democratic world, in the Republic of Kosovo has already become an annual tradition to organize conference of this format, with the purpose of celebrating the International Roma Day on which participate major personalities from political life, diplomatic, academic, civil society and other representatives of institutions of central and local government of the Republic of Kosovo.
Conference was opened by Ms Sanela Sadikovic where on behalf of the Office of the Prime Minister, congratulated the holiday of April 8 to Roma community members by expressing the Government's commitment to support this community.
The participants were addressed Minister for Communities and Returns Mr Dalibor Jevtic, Minister without portfolio Mr Rasim Demiri, Head of the EU Office in Kosovo Mr Samuel bogar, Deputy Minister Mr Usmen Baldzi (Ministry of Education, Science and Technology), Mr Gjergj Dedaj (Ministry of Local Government Administration) and Mrs Elfete Shabani (Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports), Director of the Office of Community Affairs Mr Ivan Tomic and representatives of the Roma community
Office of Community Affairs within the Office of the Prime Minister has consistently supported and supports Roma community, by financing and supporting various activities with special emphasis on ensuring the conditions for a better life, the development of education of this community, thus helping further advancement of this community, and thus preventing discrimination in relation to other non-majority communities living in Kosovo, said Mr Tomic.
