European Centre for Minority Issues (ECMI Kosovo)


European Centre for Minority Issues (ECMI Kosovo) in cooperation with the Commission for Verification of Diplomas issued by the University of Mitrovica North, the Ministry of Education Science and Technology, the Director of the Office for Community Affairs/Office of the Prime Minister, the Director of Legal Office/Office of the Prime Minister, the Director the Government Coordination Secretariat/Office of the Prime Minister, the Chair of the Consultative Council for Communities within the Office of the President, the General Director of the Civil Registration Agency/Ministry of Internal Affairs and Municipalities involved in the diploma verification process, organised a two day workshop from 8-10 June 2018 in Durrës/Dra?, Albania.

The aim of the workshop was to discuss the mandate of the Independent Commission, different challenges in the working process, explore ways of better coordination. One of the key element that was discussed in the workshop was the need to expand the mandate of the Verification Commission to include other education institutions in Serbian language, especially colleges, professional schools and high schools. It was agreed to initiate all administrative and legal procedures to commence this process as soon as possible, and number of concrete steps were decided which will be enacted in the comings weeks.
